Finding Your Morning Routine in the Summer


Hello my wonderful Adult Ballerina

 

While visiting family by the sea, Iacopo and I carved out a little summer ritual.

We’d wake up early, before the sun turned fierce, and walk along the beach.

Legs in the water, waves brushing past, sun just beginning to kiss the skin.

The kind of walk that says:

“You’re allowed to begin slow today.”

 

There’s something magical about that hour.

But also something smart.

Morning movement in the summer isn’t just romantic, it’s incredibly good for your body:

πŸ’¦ It improves circulation and reduces puffiness in legs and feet (especially when walking in water).


β˜€οΈ It resets your internal clock, helping you sleep better at night.


🧠 It boosts serotonin, lifting your mood naturally before the day begins.


🩰 And for us dancers, it gently wakes up the joints and fascia so we’re not stiff or stuck when we start moving later.

 

 

After our beach walks, we’d each carve out a bit of time to train.

Nothing big. Just movement that felt like a gift, not a grind.

Then coffee and family chats. A slow start to a golden day.

 

 

In the evenings, we’d head back out after dinner. Around 9pm, when the sky was still glowing and the breeze had cooled down enough to breathe.

That too, was a kind of reset.

🌿 Evening walks help digestion, calm the nervous system, and even support recovery if your muscles are sore.


πŸŒ… It’s also a great way to reflect on the day, let the body exhale, and wind down without slumping in front of a screen.

Oh and if you’re anything like me, you end up talking to every cat along the way. That part is essential. πŸ˜‚

 

That’s the kind of vibe I wanted for our dancers this summer.
