Buon Ferragosto...and I'm melting

Buon Ferragosto, my wonderful Adult Ballerina

It’s tremendously hot here in Verona. I’m sweating by just… existing. And you know what? I kind of love it.

Murphy, my cat, is more clingy than usual. Even with the night heat, he insists on spooning me or sleeping on my pillow, as close as possible. I do have a fan blowing in my direction… so I guess I’m basically a luxury cat bed.

I’m keeping my fluids up, working out super early in the morning when it’s cooler, and making sure my plants on the terrace get a good drink before the sun hits them. I’d be devastated if my glorious greens perished due to my negligence.

 

Hydration, hydration, hydration,  that’s my motto this week!

I don’t know what you have planned for Ferragosto. I’m staying home,  experimenting with DIY projects going very badly (currently testing colours on my outdoor cabinets… and they look hideous. At least I tested them inside the doors 🀦‍♀️). I’m cooking fresh, nourishing summer meals (this one I can do well 😎) and taking time to write, just like I’m doing now.

 

Ferragosto here is quiet, unless you’re at the beach, crammed between everyone else trying to cool off πŸ€ͺ.

It’s actually the perfect moment to reflect and plan what’s to come.

September is just around the corner. Soon you’ll be juggling schedules,  organising yourself, the kids, your hobbies, your workouts… and it can feel overwhelming. So let’s lighten that load.

I’d love you to take a quiet moment today to think about your next chapter for your workouts and for the way you want to feel in your body and mind this autumn.

Start here:

  1. What do I want my mind and body to feel like by the end of September?
  2. What skills or habits do I want to build between now and then?
  3. How do I want my daily routine to support me, instead of drain me?

Then dig deeper:

  1. Why are these goals important to me right now?
  2. What will change in my daily life when I achieve them?
  3. How will I feel knowing I followed through?

Finally, make it practical:

  1. What’s one small daily action I can start tomorrow?
  2. What days/times can I realistically commit to moving my body?
  3. How will I keep myself accountable?
  4. What needs to be in my calendar so I actually do it?
  5. Which program/class will help me get there fastest?

P.S. I take back what I said about Ferragosto being quiet... my neighbour is in her bathroom blasting music, singing completely out of tune 🀣… but having the time of her life.
