Why I’m standing barefoot more often these days

 When was the last time your feet touched the earth?


Hello, my wonderful Artistic Dancer,

Yesterday I stepped outside barefoot.
Not just for a second, and no I didn't  forget my shoes...
wanted to feel the ground again.

The grass was still damp from the morning rain.
Cool. Soft. A little messy.
It made me giggle at first, then exhale.

There’s something ancient about standing like that.
Feet on the earth. Nothing in between.
It’s as if your whole body remembers: I belong here.

 

We spend most of our days in shoes.
Structured, stiff, designed to “protect” us, but they also disconnect us.

From the ground. From the rhythm of our step. From the signals our body sends.

And yet, our feet are filled with nerve endings, energy points, and ancient intelligence.

When we never take off our shoes, we lose that dialogue.
We forget what it means to move with the earth, not just over it.

 

They call it “grounding” or “earthing” in wellness books,
but to me it felt simpler than that.
It was just me, the earth, and a stillness I didn’t have to earn.

No technique.
No mirrors.
Just contact.

And something in my nervous system said:

“Thank you. Stay.”

Do you want to try something with me? I promise it won't take more than a minute. 
Here's what we are going to do: 

– Step outside with bare feet
– Stand still. Let the soles press into the ground
– Wiggle your toes and let the grass brush in between them. Shift your weight. Close your eyes
– Inhale deeply and say to yourself:

“I am here. I am safe. I am held.”

 

 

If you’re not somewhere grassy today, just imagine it.
Or take off your shoes indoors and roll your feet gently on the floor.
Let your body feel supported without needing to brace or perform.

We’re not floating heads. We’re full, grounded beings.
Our body craves connection with the natural world. Sometimes, all it takes is taking off our shoes.

Think about this, and take time to write it down, for you:
